DIRECTOR OF MUSIC - DOREEN ANDERSON
The choir is directed by Doreen Anderson, who was the Associate
Director for many years. After graduating in Music from
the University of Leeds she started her teaching career
at Salt Grammar School, Shipley, where David Bryan, the
founder of the Aire Valley Singers, was Head of Music and
since that time worked with him for almost forty years.
Doreen Anderson has been a member of the Aire Valley Singers
since the early days of the Choir and has often acted as
accompanist. She gives Pre-concert talks for the orchestral performances
at St. George’s Hall, Bradford and was, until recently, a Tutor in Muisc Appreciation for the WEA.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MUSIC - BARBARA BANCROFT
After graduating from Leeds University, Barbara
took up teaching posts in Wakefield and later in Leeds
and Bradford, where she worked as a Head of Music.
She has been a member of several Chamber Choirs in
West Yorkshire both as a singer and as an accompanist,
and has sung with the Aire Valley Singers since succeeding
David Bryan at Salt Grammar School. She is now working
in Calderdale, having recently completed a Masters Degree at Bradford and Ilkley Community College. As well as
taking on the role of Assistant Director
of the Aire Valley Singers, she is also Assistant Conductor
to Paddock Orchestra in Huddersfield and Alwoodley Sinfonia in Leeds.
